Week before Vacation

It's Friday afternoon, the snow is falling like crazy and I am happy to say, "We made it!" We've had a week full of final program practices, presents to make, give, and unwrap, a fiesta to prepare and enjoy, then decorations to take down and pack away.

Many thanks to Mrs. Gifford for organizing all the things we needed to take home, Mrs. Colson for volunteering to take down many of our decorations in the hall, and Mrs. Akey for helping with our fiesta. We loved our taco dip! To quote Daniella, "It was delicious!" Thanks to all who sent in the ingredients, especially Mrs. Grega who sent in everything that was left on our list!

You would have been proud of your children today. They were so gracious and joyful as they gave and received their Secret Elf gifts. We sure had a lot of fun guessing who gave each gift. Several times we heard students exclaim, "You're going to love this!" as they predicted how their gift would be received. The giving and receiving of gifts is an important opportunity to practice generosity and gratitude. Thank you for taking the time to send in a gift with your child.

If you're reading this blog, chances are you've also seen the Second Grade News page linked to the NCS website. I apologize for the layout issues that need to be fixed. I'll work on cleaning them up over vacation. Our thanks to Mr. Clapper for linking us to the site on such a hectic afternoon.

The snow is still falling with the promise of two more storms before Christmas. Enjoy this special time with your families and have a very Merry Christmas!

Mrs. Lanie Groff
